FeverAll Infant vs Children's: 80 mg or 120 mg?

Strip away the packaging and the marketing and this comparison is one variable. The infant carton contains 80 mg of acetaminophen per suppository. The children's carton contains 120 mg. Same active ingredient, same route, same manufacturer, same six per carton, same foil wrapping.

Which number is right for a given child is a clinical judgement, and the box makes it for you by printing the age range and directions it is labeled for. That means the decision is not really yours to optimise: it belongs to the pediatrician, and your job is to buy exactly what they named. This page will not tell you which rung a child is on, and any page that does from a description of your child alone is doing something it should not.

FeverAll's ladder is 80 mg infant, 120 mg children's, 325 mg junior. Amazon's descriptive words do not track it. The 120 mg listing carries the word Infant. The 325 mg listing carries the word Children. Both print their correct milligram figure, which is the saving grace: the number is reliable even when the word is not.

The routine that defeats it takes half a minute:

1. Write the milligram number down when the pediatrician says it. Not the word they used, the number.
2. Find that number in the listing title. Every FeverAll listing that publishes a strength puts it in the title.
3. Find it again in the Drug Facts panel photograph on the listing page.
4. If a listing publishes no strength at all, as the paraben free version and the pack of 4 do not, choose a different listing rather than guessing.

Then check the carton itself when it arrives, before it goes in the fridge, rather than at the moment you need it. That is the difference between a calm check and a panicked one.

Per suppository, at our September 5, 2026 check: 80 mg was about $2.12, 120 mg about $2.52, and 325 mg about $1.57. Within a strength, the multipacks behave inconsistently, which is worth knowing before you assume a bigger box is cheaper.

Read that table one strength at a time. At 120 mg the two-pack is cheaper per suppository than the single carton, about $2.25 against $2.52. At 80 mg it is dearer, about $2.46 against $2.12. Comparing across strengths, which the table makes tempting, is the mistake to avoid: 325 mg is the cheapest line and the wrong purchase for most readers of this page.

It is worth listing the ties, because they are what makes this comparison so short. Both cartons hold six individually foil-wrapped suppositories. Both come from FeverAll, which is effectively the whole rectal acetaminophen category on Amazon. Both carry the same class warnings and the same call lines. Both soften in heat and store best cool, and owners of both describe the same fiddly moment separating a foil strip one handed. Neither is easier to use than the other.

• A child getting worse rather than better, or developing new symptoms, is a call regardless of the thermometer.
• Never combine acetaminophen products. A suppository and an oral syrup contain the same drug and the amounts add. Check every other medicine in the house before giving either.

• Nobody has said a number yet: that is the step before the purchase. And if the child is an infant under 3 months with any fever, it is a call before anything else.
